The Starbound dedicated server can be used for the multiplayer version of the Starbound game. Combat is not the main focus of the game but the exploration feature is what keeps the players hooked with it. The specialties of the game include story-based operations, quests, free world expeditions, combats, and the ability of terraforming planets. Apart from these basic things, you can fully customize your ship as you progress in the game. It has a teleport pad for teleporting to the planet to which the player is visiting, a ship locker for keeping stuff, a fuel panel to manage fuel, and a cockpit for running the ship. The spacecraft helps the player to explore space. The space shuttle lingers around a habitable planet and when the adventure takes flight the spacecraft wanders around in the galaxy hysterically. While on the other hand, Earth is on the verge of destruction.
The player is a fresh graduate from Terrene Protectorate which is an intergalactic peacekeeping organization that originated from Earth. At the beginning of the game, the player is given a damaged spacecraft without any guide or direction, just wandering in space. The setting of Starbound is a two-dimensional universe that the player has to explore to visit towns, villages occupied by intelligent lifeforms on various planets.
It is available both in single-player and in multiplayer modes.
The console version is still under development for Xbox One, Playstation 4, and Playstation Vita. It was released in July 2016 out of early access on platforms like Microsoft Windows, OS X, and Linux.
